UK’s first GIRS accredited contractor
PMI Denholm has recently been accredited with the second part of the GIRS (Gas Industry Registration Scheme) complex connection qualification – making the company the only contractor in the UK with accreditation for all types of complex connections under the GIRS scheme.
Earlier, we had obtained accreditation for complex connections on PE (polyethylene or plastic) pipelines, this second part we have obtained is for complex connections on steel and other metallic pipelines including welded connections.
Accreditation is regarded as a key benchmark and proves competency not only of operational capabilities, but also of management systems and administration.
The importance of this accreditation becomes clear when considering the position of someone, outside of the National Grid, who wants to make an independent and not basic connection to the National Grid pipeline network up to 7 bar - National Grid advises them that they must use a company with the correct GIRS accreditation.
